About

The Core Bible is an expanded translation. Where necessary, several English words are used to convey the meaning of the original text. The translation uses a system of parentheses and square brackets. Maps and images in the text shows the context and highlight the latest archaeological finds that proves the Bible.

A New Translation

The Core Bible is a new expanded Bible translation from the original languages. The Bible already exist in Swedish and is now coming in more languages like English, Norwegian and more is on the way.

What is Unique?

The Core Bible uses a system of parentheses and brackets as follows:

()Expands the meaning of the Greek and Hebrew words to give the full richness of the original languages.
[] Comments to allow the reader to better understand the passage by including references to other passages, description of ancient context, conversion to modern weights/measures, etc.

You could say that the content of the parentheses and brackets are notes that are inserted in the text and formulated so that they can be read together with the Bible text if you want to. The reason why the explanations are found as brackets in the text, and not as notes, is that you do not have to jump with your eye to the notes, which often in turn refer to other Bible passages on another page. It is then a risk to lose the context as a Bible reader. Instead, there are short, concise explanations in the middle of the text. In the same way that you can read or skip a note in a traditional Bible translation, you can choose to read or skip the text in brackets in the Core Bible.

Layout – The Core Bible layout is unique that it also shows the structure of the ancient texts visual by arranging the text in lists and indenting chiastic patterns.

Images – over 1000 images from biblical places and archeological finds helps the reader building trust in the Bible.

Maps – maps alongside the text helps the user locate the places that are mentioned in the text.

The free Core Bible online resources also includes:

  • Integrated Bible Atlas with all biblical places, museums all over the word with artifacts related to the Bible, archaeological finds, etc.
  • Biblical Persons
  • Lexicons and interlinear versions – just click on a verse to see the Greek/Hebrew and also a graphical diff between different manuscripts.

The project started 2004

This project started 2004 in San Diego. Jonas and Lisa (Liselotte in Swedish) had then lived in USA, and was blessed by all the richness of english Bible translations. Vision about an Swedish expanded version was born, and the name Lisa came up with was "Core Bible" which translates into "Kärnbibeln" in Swedish.

After 20 years of work was the full Bible printed and published in Swedish.
