Pilate stone

During excavations in Caesarea in 1961, a stone was found with the inscription: “Pontius Pilate, governor of Judea.” It is part of a larger tribute to the Roman emperor Tiberius, which confirms the Bible's account that they were contemporaries. The original can be seen at the Israel Museum, and a copy is also located at Herod's palace in Caesarea.
