Lo-debar (Debir)

A town in Manasseh in Gilead east of the Jordan. It is probably identical with Debir. This was the hiding place of Mephiboseth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul. It is also the origin of Machir who supplies David and his people when they are on the run from Absalom. It seams to be a common hiding place, the name also suggest this. "Lo" is no in hebrew, and "debar" is word, but also used for pasture. It could be translated "no word" or "no pasture".
