Leviticus 8:15

And he slaughtered it, and Moses took the blood and spread it with his finger on the horns of the altar [the four corners, see Ex. 27:2] all around and purified the altar and poured the blood at the base of the altar and consecrated (set apart) it to bring atonement (cover) on it.
