First letter of Peter 3:8

And finally [as a concluding exhortation]:
Be of one mind (united, harmonious – Gk. sympathes) [live in harmony with one another],
compassionate [share joy and sorrow],
loving toward your brothers and sisters [show brotherly love],
tenderhearted (understanding, compassionate, merciful, kindhearted),
humble.
[Five adjectives form a chiasmus here (where the first and last, second and second-to-last words are thematically related and together frame the central climax). Harmonious unity is only possible if everyone practices humility. Being compassionate and tender also creates understanding and sincere commitment. All this protects and preserves the inner love between siblings, which always needs to be nurtured and handled with care.]
