[Paul, Silas, and Timothy stayed with a man named Jason. He was a believer, probably also of Jewish descent, since Jason was a common Greek form of the Jewish name Joshua. He was also a tentmaker like Paul, see .]
But the Jews became jealous and took some evil men from the street and gathered a mob to riot in the city. They stormed Jason's house and searched for Paul and Silas to drag them out to the crowd.
When they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some other brothers before the city rulers (politarchs) and shouted, "Now these men who have turned the world upside down have come here too,
and Jason has welcomed them! They are all acting contrary to the emperor's decrees, saying that another is king, one named Jesus."
and they made Jason and the others pay bail before they were released.
My co-worker Timothy sends his greetings.
