First Chronicles 27:3

He was one of the sons of Perez [from the tribe of Judah, see 1 Chron. 2:4] and was in charge of all the commanders
who served during the first month.
[The first of the twelve divisions is framed by the words "first month". The first month is aviv in Hebrew and means "the month when the ears of grain ripen"; the Babylonian name is nisan. The new year begins in the spring with the remembrance of the Exodus from Egypt, see Ex. 12:2.]
