Psalms 7:5

If so, let my enemy hunt (pursue) me (my soul) and capture me;
let him trample my life into the ground (destroy me),
and lay my honor in the dust [defile me, bring me to the grave in shame, see Gen. 3:19].
[A person's memory, honor, or disgrace is important in this culture. Nebuchadnezzar threatens to demolish houses, see Dan. 2:5. Even today, the houses of convicted criminals are demolished in some parts of the Middle East to erase their memory. In ancient times, there are also examples where temples and houses have been demolished and turned into public toilets to humiliate and dishonor the name of the former owner, see 2 Kings 10:27; Ezra 6:11.]
Selah. [Probably an interruption for an instrumental interlude, a pause to reflect on what has just been sung.]
