Psalms 77:3

When I remember (think about) God (Elohim), I must groan and lament;
when I ponder (think, reflect), my spirit is weakened.
Selah. [Probably an interruption for an instrumental interlude, a pause to ponder what has just been sung. This verse is puzzling; how can it be painful to remember God, when it should give hope! When Asaph thinks of God, it may refer to God's character and holiness in relation to his own frailty, but also to God's previous interventions in his own life and that of his people. In that comparison, the current situation seems hopeless, God is perceived as far away, and it becomes painful to see the contrast.]
