Ecclesiastes 6:9

Better is [to be content with] what the eye sees,
than wandering desires (the wanderings of the soul – Hebr. halach nefesh).
This too is vanity (emptiness; completely meaningless)
and a chasing after the wind.
[The second part of this verse is the mathematical center of the entire Book of Ecclesiastes. Here, the theme of the entire book is summarized with the Hebrew word hevel – emptiness and meaninglessness.]
