Ezekiel 1:1

[The dates in the Book of Ezekiel are based on Jehoiachin's captivity and exile in 597 BC, see 2 Kings 24:12; 15. The introduction (verses 1-3) is structured with parallelism and also has a chiastic pattern that moves inward from year to month and centrally to the day when Ezekiel saw visions from God.]
And it came to pass in the 30th year [of Ezekiel's life]
in the 4th [month]
on the 5th [day] of the month,
when I [Ezekiel] was among the captives by the river Chebar,
that the heavens were opened and I saw visions from God (Elohim).
