Ezekiel 40:3

He brought me there, and behold, I saw a man whose appearance was like bronze [he shone and glowed]. In his hand he had a linen cord [for measuring long distances, perhaps similar to the measuring cord in Zech. 2:1] and a measuring rod [for measuring gates and walls, see Rev 21:15]. He stood at the gate.
[Measuring rod is composed of the word for rod (Hebr. qaneh) and the word for measure (Hebr. middah). The word for rod, which can also mean branch or reed, has also become a Gk. loanword kanna and kanon. The word has come to mean a measuring rod and is used for the books of the Bible and the Christian canon.]
