Leviticus 16:4

He shall wear sacred linen garments; he shall have linen undergarments (Heb. michnas) [Ex 28:42] on his body, and he shall be girded with a linen sash; he shall also wear a linen turban. These are the sacred garments; therefore, he shall wash his body in water and then put them on.
[The high priest usually wore a colorful robe adorned with gold and precious stones; see Exodus 28:39–41; 39:29. Gold was associated with the sin of the golden calf (Exodus 32:4), which was considered inappropriate when asking for forgiveness. The simpler white linen garments were the official attire of the other priests. Now that the high priest is to dress as simply as all the other priests, this prophetically shows that Jesus must become like one of us, a true human being, in order to grant us atonement. The holiness is also emphasized by the fact that the phrase “for himself” is repeated seven times in this chapter in connection with sacrifices; see verse 6 (twice), verse 11 (three times), verse 17, and verse 24.]
