Numbers 18:19

All the wave offerings of holy things that the sons of Israel offer to the Lord (Yahweh), I have given to you and your sons and your daughters with you, as a statute forever. It is a perpetual salt covenant before the Lord (Yahweh), for you and your descendants with you."
[Salt was used in all sacrifices, see Lev. 2:13. The function of salt to preserve and conserve alludes to the fact that the "salt covenant" that is entered into should be long-lasting and kept, see 2 Chron. 13:5. Entering into a salt covenant is considered a full equivalent to a blood covenant, see Ex. 24:8.]
