Numbers 19:2

These are the statutes (literally "things engraved") of the teaching (Hebr. Torah) that the Lord (Yahweh) has commanded and said: Speak to the sons of Israel that they bring you a red heifer (Hebr. parah adoma), without blemish (ritually pure – Hebr. tamim), which has never borne a yoke.
[The sacrifices of animals to make the water of sprinkling were different from the sacrifices for sins and thanksgiving. It was a female (not a male as in all other sacrifices), the color was specified, it was to be killed outside the camp, and more material was to be thrown into the sacrifice. This text is included in the Torah reading on the last Sabbath of the month of Adar (usually in March), just before Passover. It is one of several connections to Jesus' death outside the city walls, see Heb. 13:12.]
