Numbers 19:4

And the priest Elazar [Aaron's son, see Num. 3:2] shall take some of her blood with his finger and sprinkle it seven times toward the entrance of the tent of meeting (literally: face).
[So from the eastern area, the priest would sprinkle in a westerly direction, toward the altar, where the blood was normally poured out or sprinkled. The repetition seven times speaks of perfection. Several other sacrifices, such as the Day of Atonement, have the same repetition, see Lev. 16:14–19.]
