[The Sabbath begins at sunset on Friday and ends at sunset on Saturday. According to traditional Jewish belief, no work was to be done on the Sabbath. It was not permitted to light a fire, to travel, or to carry things outdoors. The news of what Jesus had done spread quickly, but it was not until the Sabbath was over that people brought the sick to Jesus.]
