Peter followed at a distance all the way to the high priest's courtyard. [The disciple John was also there, and it was he who arranged for Peter to enter through the gate, see John 18:16.] There he sat among the servants [both the servants of the house and the temple guards who had just been involved in arresting Jesus] and warmed himself by the fire.
