Mark 9:49

For everyone will be salted with fire.
[This verse, where both salt and fire are used figuratively, must be interpreted. It is likely that Jesus is referring to the ability of salt to preserve something so that it does not change. Fire can refer to the fire of hell (mentioned in the previous verse), and then the meaning is that everyone who is there has an eternal destiny. Fire can also be the fire of trial that purifies the believer, see 1 Pet. 4:12. Then "being salted with fire" is something good and is related to the next verse where the properties of salt are described as good.]
