Then a cloud came and overshadowed them, and a voice came from the cloud, saying, "This is my Son, my beloved. Listen to him always (hear and learn from him all the time)!" [The cloud is an image of God's presence. In the Old Testament, it covered the tabernacle, see Ex. 40:34–35, and rested over the temple in Jerusalem, see 1 Kings 8:10.]
