Luke 23:29

For the time is coming when people will say, 'Blessed (happy, fortunate, enviable) are the barren, the wombs that have not borne children, and the breasts that have not nursed.
[Fertility was a sign of blessing. This reversed image indicates that something is very wrong. The suffering that would come upon the Jewish nation was so great that women would wish they had not given birth to children. The Jewish historian Josephus writes how mothers ate their own children during the famine caused by the Roman siege of Jerusalem in 66-70 CE. See also Deut. 28:53; 2 Kings 6:29.]
