John 20:31

But these [seven signs in this book] have been written down so that you may choose to believe that Jesus is the Anointed One (Messiah, Christ), the Son of God, and by believing (trusting, leaning on him), you choose to have life in his name.
[Jesus did many signs and wonders. The world would not contain all the books that would need to be written if John were to write down everything, see John 21:24–25. The Greek word for sign semeion focuses more on the symbolism behind the miracle than the miracle itself. The seven "signs" found in this gospel are carefully chosen to show that Jesus is truly God.
• The miracle of the wine, see John 2:1–11.
• The healing of the king's servant's son, see John 4:46–54.
• The healing of the lame man at the Pool of Bethesda, see John 5:1–18.
• The feeding of the 5,000, see John 6:5–14.
• Jesus walking on water, see John 6:16–24.
• The healing of the man born blind, see John 9:1–7.
• The raising of Lazarus, see John 11:1–45.]
