John 8:58

Jesus answered them, "I tell you the truth (amen, amen): I Am – even before Abraham was (born)."
[Jesus has always existed, see John 1:1, 2; Col. 1:17. The fact that Jesus not only "was" before Abraham but "is" before Abraham also shows how Jesus' present extends back into the past. His existence transcends time. Jesus equates himself with God, see Ex. 3:14; Ps. 90:2. Something that the listeners see as terrible blasphemy deserving of death, see Lev. 24:16.]
