We were encouraged not only by his arrival (presence) but also by the comfort he received from you. He told us about your longing [to see Paul again], your lamentation [sorrow over how they had treated Paul during his last visit, see 2 Cor. 1:23; 2:1], and your zeal for my welfare, and I rejoiced even more.

οὐ   μόνον   δὲ   ἐν   τῇ   παρουσίᾳ   αὐτοῦ,   ἀλλὰ   καὶ   ἐν   τῇ   παρακλήσει   ᾗ   παρεκλήθη   ἐφ᾽   ὑμῖν   ἀναγγέλλων   ἡμῖν   τὴν   ὑμῶν   ἐπιπόθησιν,   τὸν   ὑμῶν   ὀδυρμόν,   τὸν   ὑμῶν   ζῆλον   ὑπὲρ   ἐμοῦ,   ὥστε   με   μᾶλλον   χαρῆναι.
