Deuturonomy 17:17

Nor shall he take many wives, lest his heart turn away [lose focus on the Lord—here Solomon is a tragic example, see 1 Kings 11:1–13]. [Ex. 34:16; Deut. 7:3]
Nor shall he gather great quantities of silver and gold for himself [1 Kings 10:14–25]. [It is not the horses, silver, or gold themselves that are the problem, but the abundance of these riches and the risk of trusting in them more than in God, see Matt. 6:33.]
