But if you [the Israelites scattered among the nations] seek the Lord (Yahweh) your God (Elohim) there, you will find him, if you seek (study to gain more knowledge and deeper understanding of) him with all your heart and with all your soul (life).
[The word "seek" describes a search to obtain someone who already exists, not just knowledge but total ownership. The verb form also changes from the plural "you" to the singular "your" in the middle of the sentence to reinforce that this is about a personal relationship.]
