Colossians 1:21

[Verses 21-23 are a single sentence in Greek. It is complex but well structured. There is a time perspective in which Paul first reminds the believers in Colossae of their former unsaved state, that they are now reconciled, and that there is also a future hope!]
You were once [in your unsaved state] strangers and enemies in your minds [towards God in your way of thinking], which was expressed in your evil deeds.
