First letter to Timothy 1:20

Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan so that they may be taught not to blaspheme.
[The expression "handed over to Satan" may refer to their being expelled from the church community, see 1 Cor. 5:1–5. The goal is always forgiveness and restoration, see 2 Cor. 2:5–8; 2 Thess 3:14–15.]
