Joshua 9:27

And Joshua made them woodcutters and water carriers for the congregation [the people of Israel] and for the altar of the Lord (Yahweh), to this day [for all time], to the place which he shall choose.
[The tabernacle was first moved to Shiloh (Josh. 18:1), then to Gibeon (1 Chron. 16:39), and finally to Jerusalem. After the exile, the Gibeonites were among those who repaired the walls (Neh 3:7; 7:25). The people of Kiriath Jearim, Kephirah, and Beeroth are also mentioned among those who returned, see Ezra 2:25; Neh 7:29. All these peoples had then become part of the Jewish people, in the same way as Rahab and other Gentiles who had received God's grace and been grafted in, see Gen. 12:3; Josh. 6:25.]
