First letter of John 5:13

I have written this [the entire first letter of John] to you who believe in (trust in, lean on) the name of God's Son, so that you may know (have a clear assurance of) that you already have eternal life [possess God's abundant and genuine life – that is, the very essence and meaning of life].
[The purpose of the letter is assurance of salvation. A natural consequence of possessing eternal life is boldness to come to God with all prayers.]
