First Samuel 15:23

For rebellion (bitterness – Hebr. meri) is a sin of witchcraft (literally, to sin with witchcraft – Hebr. chatat qesem)
and stubbornness is idolatry (literally nothing, vanity, but also an idol – Hebr. aven) and household idol worship (Hebr. teraphim).
Because you have rejected the word of the Lord (Yahweh),
he will also reject you from being king."
[Interestingly, Saul and a member of his family would be associated with both divination (1 Sam. 28:7–19) and a household god (1 Sam. 19:13).]
