Daniel 7:12

[The last beast is completely destroyed.] As for the other [three] beasts, their power was taken away, but they were allowed to live for a set time and season (length of life was given to them).
[This fits well with history. The three previous empires were absorbed into each other. The Persians and Medes took over the Babylonian Empire, which in turn was taken over by the Greeks, etc. In contrast, the fourth empire is completely destroyed and replaced by a new world order—the Kingdom of God. Similarly, the statue in chapter 2 does not collapse until the lowest part—the feet and toes of iron and clay—is struck by the stone, see Dan. 2:41, 44–45.]
