Genesis 33:17

And Jacob journeyed to Sukkot [east of the Jordan River near Jabbok; probably present-day Tell Deir Alla] and built himself a house and made stalls (Hebr. sukkot) for his livestock. Therefore, that place is called Sukkot. [Sukkot means hut and corresponds to the livestock shelters that were built as stables at that time. The same word is found in the Feast of Tabernacles, which is called Sukkot in Hebrew.]
