First Kings 19:21

He [Elisha] went back. Then he took the two oxen and slaughtered them. He used the yoke as fuel to cook the meat and gave it to the people to eat. Then he set out and followed Elijah as his servant.
[By sacrificing the oxen, he shows that he understands the seriousness of the calling and does not intend to return to his old life. Elisha now follows Elijah for ten years and is trained in the prophetic ministry before the mantle is handed over to him.]
