Exodus 22:3

But if the sun has risen on him [the thief was digging his way in when it was light], there shall be bloodguilt for him [the killer]. [The homeowner shall be prosecuted for murder.] He [the thief] shall make full restitution (Hebr. shalem shalem). If he has nothing [sufficient], then he shall be sold [as a slave] for his theft (stealing by stealth – Hebr. genevah). [If he could not pay, he had to pay by working, but not more than six years, see Ex. 21:2–4.]
