Proverbs 17:8

A gift (bribe) is like a shining diamond [literally "a stone that charms"] to the one who gives it,
wherever he turns, it brings him success.
[The verse can be interpreted positively that a gift appeases anger, see Prov 21:14. The word gift can also be translated as bribe, which is not accepted according to Jewish law, and then the verse is a sad commentary on human behavior, see verse 23.]
