Isaiah 36:2

The king of Assyria sent his commander [Hebr. ravshake – "great cupbearer," probably a title for the leader of the campaign, see also 2 Kings 18:17] from Lachish to Jerusalem [2 Chron. 32:9], to King Hezekiah with a large army. And he stood by the canal of the upper pool on the highway at the Sheep Folds [place where textiles were washed and dried].
[This is exactly the same place where Isaiah met Ahaz, see Isa. 7:3. Probably in the vicinity of the present-day Northern Damascus Gate in Jerusalem. While the Assyrian king Sennacherib was besieging Lachish, he sent his commander (chief cupbearer) to Jerusalem to pressure Hezekiah to surrender without a fight. He was probably chosen for the task because he spoke fluent Hebrew, see verses 11-13. The siege of Lachish is well documented in a series of reliefs on the walls of Sennacherib's banquet hall in Nineveh.]
