Ezekiel 1:3

Then the word of the Lord (Yahweh) came to the priest Ezekiel, son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans [Babylon] by the river Chebar, and the hand of the Lord (Yahweh) [power, see 1 Kings 18:46; 2 Kings 3:15] was upon him in that place. [Kevar was a branch of the Euphrates River, south of Babylon.]
[This is the second exile, and the author of the book, Ezekiel, is one of those who are also taken away. He was then 25 years old. Here in the introduction to the book, five years have passed since then and he is 30 years old. In the first exile (605 BC), a small group was taken away, including Daniel. At that time, Jehoiakim (Hebr. Jehojaqim) reigned in Judah, see Dan. 1:1. Now his son Jehoiachin (Hebr. Jehojachin; same name, but with an "n" at the end instead of an "m") is ruling. Here in Ezekiel, the spelling of Jehojachin is the similar Jojachin (Ezek. 1:2).
Ezekiel was (like Jeremiah) of priestly descent and a descendant of Levi. His father Buzi is not mentioned elsewhere, but there may be a connection with the land of Boz (Job 32:2, 6). Had Ezekiel not been taken away from Jerusalem, he would have begun serving as a priest in the temple when he turned 30 (Num. 4:47). Instead, the Lord now calls him to be a prophet (Ezek. 2:3–5). The phrase "the word of the Lord came" is used 50 times in the book.]
