Ezekiel 3:15

And I came to them of the captives in Tel Aviv [in Babylon at that time] who lived by the river Kevar, and I sat where they sat and remained there, appalled among them for seven days [the time of mourning, see Gen. 50:10; 1 Sam. 31:13; Job 2:13; also the time of priestly ordination, see Lev. 8:33].
[Tel Aviv in this verse is located in ancient Babylon and should not be confused with today's modern Tel Aviv on the Mediterranean Sea. The Jewish captives lived by the river Kevar near Nippur, see Ezek. 1:3. The name is related to the Akkadian expression meaning "the mound/deposits from the great river." The word tel is a term for a mound that has been created by repeated settlement. It may originate from an ancient settlement that the Jews were ordered to rebuild. In Hebrew, the basic meaning of aviv is the stage in the development of barley when the ears turn green and begin to ripen. The month of aviv is the spring month when barley reaches this stage, see Ex. 13:4; 23:15. Verse 23 mentions a fertile valley, so the name may be related to harvest. In modern Hebrew, aviv means spring. The modern city of Tel Aviv, founded in 1909, was named after this place name in Babylon at that time and means "spring hill".]
