Mark 6:34

When Jesus went ashore [in a place that would normally have been relatively deserted], he saw that a large crowd was waiting for him. He was deeply moved with compassion, for they were like sheep without a shepherd. [Later that day, there were 5,000 men, plus women and children, see verse 44, so perhaps several thousand were already gathered there.]
He began to teach them many things (many different subjects and areas).
