Mark 8:34

Then he called the crowd to him, along with his disciples, and said to them:
"If anyone wants to follow (walk behind) me
he must deny (completely reject; say no to; renounce) himself [his own agenda]
and take up his cross
and follow me (be/walk with me on the path) [become my disciple].
[A disciple of Jesus must leave his own behind, walk in the footsteps of the Master, and follow his example in everything – yes, even be prepared to suffer and die for his sake.]
