John 15:2

Every branch in me that does not bear fruit,
he takes away (lifts up – Gk. airo)
and every branch that [continuously] bears fruit
he prunes (trims, prunes),
so that it may bear more (better, richer) fruit.
[The Greek word airo can mean to take away, to pick up, to raise up or to lift up. In John 20:1 it is used about the stone that was removed, while in John 5:8 it is translated as lift up about the lame man's bed. It is the context that determines the meaning. Here it can either mean that the branch that does not bear fruit is taken away, or that it is lifted up from the ground and supported so that it has a new chance to bear fruit.]
