Second letter to Timothy 2:19

But God's firm foundation [the church, which is the pillar and foundation of truth, see 1 Tim. 3:15] remains and has this seal:
"The Lord knows those who are his."
[Quote from Num. 16:5, which deals with Korah, Dathan, and Abiram's rebellion against Moses and the church. Just as God then distinguished between those who were false teachers and those who were loyal, Timothy is encouraged to trust in God who distinguishes between true and false teachers.] "Everyone who calls on (confesses) the name of the Lord
shall keep himself from iniquity."
[Not a literal quote, but the same ideas found in Ps. 34:14 and Prov 3:7.]
