Hebrews 11:39

[Now the argument that began in chapter 11 is summarized. The word testimony used in verse 2 recurs here and frames the entire passage.]
Although all these [examples of people from the Old Testament mentioned] had received testimony for their faith, they did not receive what was promised. [They did not see the Messiah, his kingdom, and the final restoration and salvation that will take place when Jesus returns, see Heb. 9:28.]
