James 1:2

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds (temptations – Gk. peirasmois) [problems, difficulties]. [James is primarily referring to persecution because of faith, see James 2:6; 1 Pet. 4:12–16. Here lay a temptation to grow weary and give up one's faith.]
