First letter of John 2:3

[In verse 6, the word remain (Gr. meno) is introduced for the first time in this letter. It is used a total of 24 times in chapters 2-4 and means to stay, live, and dwell. Three phrases begin with "Whoever says," see verses 4, 6, 9.]
And by (i) this we know [based on personal experience] that we have come to know him:
That (if) we keep his commandments [want to preserve and watch over them until they are fulfilled].
