First letter of John 5:15

And if we know that he hears (listens to) us whatever we ask, we know that we [already] have what we have asked (requested) of him.
[Everything we desire must be in accordance with his will in order for our desires to be granted, see also 1 John 3:22; Matt. 26:39. In the next paragraph, John continues with what applies when praying for others. God's will is that no one should be lost and that everyone should have time to repent, see 2 Pet. 3:9. At the same time, there is the condition of personal repentance and faith.]
