[This chapter describes two banquets. The first is the wedding feast with the Lamb, see verse 9. In contrast, there is now a terrifying invitation to the birds of the earth. Verses 17-21 form a chiasm where the first and last verses speak of birds and meat. The central theme is the so-called "battle." The whole purpose of the chiasm is to dramatize the inevitable end of evil.]
