Revelation 4:2

Immediately I was in the Spirit. [John was already in the Spirit, see Rev 1:10. Now he sees a new vision or dimension; Paul had experienced something similar, see 2 Cor 12:3–4.] And behold, a throne stood in heaven, and someone sat on the throne.
[The first thing John sees is God's throne, which is the central and most striking feature. The description is similar to other visions from heaven, see Isa. 6:1–8; Ezek. 1. A throne has to do with power. In an atheistic and materialistic worldview, there is no throne in heaven. There is no higher authority to which man must answer. In humanism, however, there is a throne, but it is not occupied by God, but by man himself.]
