And it came to pass on the going of Him into a house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a Sabbath to eat bread, and they were watching Him.
2 ὑδρωπικὸς
with dropsy

And behold, a man certain there was with dropsy before Him.

ἀποκριθεὶς
answering,,

Φαρισαίους
to [the] Pharisees,,
Pharisaioys
ἔξεστιν
Is it lawful

θεραπεῦσαι
to heal
therapeysai
And answering, Jesus spoke to the lawyers and to [the] Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful on the Sabbath to heal or not?
4 ἡσύχασαν.
they were silent..

ἐπιλαβόμενος
having taken hold [of him],,

ἀπέλυσεν.¶
let [him] go..

But they were silent. And having taken hold [of him], He healed him and let [him] go.

πεσεῖται,

he will pull up

σαββάτου;
Sabbath??
sabbatoy;
And to them He said, Which of you a son or an ox into a pit will collapse, also not immediately he will pull up him on day the Sabbath?

And not they were able to reply to these things.
7 Ἔλεγεν
He was speaking

they were choosing out,,

He was speaking then to those invited a parable, remarking how the first places they were choosing out, saying to them,
8 κληθῇς
you may be invited

γάμους,
wedding feasts,,

κατακλιθῇς
may recline
kataklithes
πρωτοκλισίαν,
first place,,
protoklisian,
ἐντιμότερός
[one] more honorable

When you may be invited by anyone to wedding feasts, not may recline in the first place, otherwise [one] more honorable than you may have been invited by him,
9 ἐλθὼν

and having come, the [one] you and him having invited will say to you, do give to this one [your] place, and then you will begin with shame the last place to take.

κληθῇς,

ἀνώτερον.

But when you may be invited, having gone, do recline in the last place, so that when may come the [one] having invited you, he will say to you, Friend, do come up higher. Then will be to you glory before all those reclining [with] you.
11 ταπεινωθήσεται,
will be humbled,,

ὑψωθήσεται.¶
will be exalted..
ypsothesetai.
For everyone who is exalting himself will be humbled, and the [one] humbling himself will be exalted.
12 Ἔλεγεν
He was saying

συγγενεῖς
relatives

neighbors

recompense

He was saying then also to the [one] having invited Him, When you may make a dinner or a supper, not do call the friends of you, nor the brothers of you, nor the relatives of you, nor neighbors rich, otherwise also they may invite in return you, and may be made recompense to you.
13 ποιῇς,
you may make,,
poies,
πτωχούς,
[the] poor,,
ptochoys,
ἀναπείρους,
[the] crippled,,
anapeiroys,
χωλούς,
[the] lame,,
choloys,
τυφλούς.
[the] blind;;
typhloys.
But when a feast you may make, do call [the] poor, [the] crippled, [the] lame, [the] blind;
14 ἔχουσιν
they have

ἀνταποδοῦναί
to repay

ἀνταποδοθήσεται
It will be recompensed

ἀναστάσει
resurrection
anastasei
δικαίων.¶
righteous..
dikaion.
and blessed you will be, because nothing they have to repay you. It will be recompensed for to you in the resurrection of the righteous.

Ἀκούσας
Having heard

reclining with [Him]

these things,,

Blessed [is he]
makarios
Having heard then one of those reclining with [Him] these things, he said to Him, Blessed [is he] who will eat bread in the kingdom of God.

was preparing

But He said to him, A man certain was preparing a supper great, and invited many

ἀπέστειλεν
he sent

κεκλημένοις·
invited,,
keklemenois.
ἔρχεσθε,
do come,,
erchesthe,
And he sent the servant of him at the hour of the supper to say to those invited, do come, for now ready [it] is.
18
παραιτεῖσθαι.¶
to excuse themselves..

ἠγόρασα
I have bought,,

ἐξελθὼν

παρῃτημένον.
excused..

And began with one [voice] all to excuse themselves. The first said to him, A field I have bought, and I have need going out to see it; I beg of you, do hold me excused.

And another said, Yoke of oxen I have bought five, and I am going to prove them; I beg of you do hold me excused.
20 ἔγημα

And another said, A wife I have married, and because of this not I am able to come.

εἰσάγαγε

And having come, the servant, reported to the master of him these things. Then having become angry, the master of the house said to the servant of him, do go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and the poor and crippled and blind and lame do bring in here.

And said the servant, Sir, it has been done as you did command, and still room there is.
23 ἀνάγκασον
do compel [them]

And said the master to the servant, do go out into the highways and hedges and do compel [them] to come in, so that may be filled of me the house.
24 κεκλημένων

γεύσεταί
will taste

I say for to you that not one of the men of those which invited will taste of me the supper.
25 Συνεπορεύοντο
Were going with

στραφεὶς
having turned,,

Were going with then Him crowds great; and having turned, He said to them,

ἀδελφοὺς
brothers

ἀδελφάς,
sisters
adelphas,
δύναται
he is able
dynatai
μαθητής.
disciple..
mathetes.
If anyone comes to Me, and not hates the father his own and the mother and the wife and the children and the brothers and the sisters yes, and even the life his own not he is able to be of Me disciple.

disciple..
mathetes.
Whoever not carries the cross his own and comes after Me, not is able to be My disciple.
28
οἰκοδομῆσαι
to build,,
oikodomesai
καθίσας
having sat down,,
kathisas
ἀπαρτισμόν;
[its] completion??
apartismon;
Which for of you, is desiring a tower to build, not first having sat down, counts the cost, whether he has for [its] completion?
29 θέντος
[when] laying

θεμέλιον
a foundation,,
themelion
ἰσχύοντος
being able
ischyontos
ἐκτελέσαι
to finish,,
ektelesai
θεωροῦντες
seeing [it]
theoroyntes
ἄρξωνται
may begin

ἐμπαίζειν
to mock,,
empaizein
Thus otherwise [when] laying of it a foundation, and not being able to finish, all those seeing [it] may begin him to mock,
30 οἰκοδομεῖν
to build
oikodomein
ἐκτελέσαι.
to finish..
ektelesai.
saying that, This man began to build and not was able to finish.

πορευόμενος
proceeding

συμβαλεῖν
to engage
symbalein
καθίσας
having sat down,,
kathisas
βουλεύσεται
will take counsel

χιλιάσιν

ὑπαντῆσαι
to meet

Or what king, proceeding with another king to engage in war, not, having sat down, first will take counsel whether able he is with ten thousand to meet the [one] with twenty thousand coming against him?
32 πρεσβείαν
an embassy
presbeian
ἀποστείλας
having sent,,

εἰρήνην.¶
peace..
eirenen.
If now not lest still of him far off being, an embassy having sent, he asks for peace.
33 ἀποτάσσεται
does give up
apotassetai
ὑπάρχουσιν,
possesses,,
yparchoysin,
μαθητής.¶
disciple..
mathetes.
So therefore every one of you who not does give up all that he himself possesses, not is able to be My disciple.

μωρανθῇ,
shall become tasteless,,
moranthe,
ἀρτυθήσεται;
will it be seasoned??
artythesetai;
Good [is] therefore the salt; if however even the salt shall become tasteless, with what will it be seasoned?
35 βάλλουσιν
they cast
balloysin
ἀκουέτω.¶
he should hear..
akoyeto.
Neither for soil nor for manure fit is it; out they cast it. The [one] having ears to hear, he should hear.
